Sandborn Inspections is a dedicated business line providing floating roof inspections, LEL/LFL testing, seal gap measurements, and emergent repairs, fully aligned with Canadian federal regulations (SOR-2025-88).
Backed by Sandborn’s decades of floating roof expertise, our in-house 653 certified inspectors deliver accurate, defensible inspections with detailed reporting to help operators maintain safe, compliant, and reliable tank operations.

Annual Open Top Inspections

Annual inspections remain a cornerstone of regulatory compliance for external floating roof tanks.
Sandborn Inspections performs:
  • Measurement of secondary rim seal gaps on external floating roof tanks
  • Inspection of pressure-vacuum vents to ensure proper operation and emissions control
These inspections help maintain seal integrity, monitor vapour containment performance, and identify developing issues before they escalate into compliance violations or operational downtime. All inspections are documented with clear reporting, photos, and actionable recommendations.

Monthly Inspections

Under current Canadian regulations, monthly inspections include:
  • LEL testing of Internal Floating Roof (IFR) tanks
  • Visual inspections of External Floating Roof (EFR) tanks
Monthly LEL measurements verify vapour space performance, while visual EFR inspections confirm roof condition, seal integrity, and overall operational safety.

Every facility has unique needs. Sandborn Inspections offers:
  • Tailored inspection programs for IFR and EFR tanks
  • Custom reporting packages for regulatory submission, corporate governance, or internal compliance
